Along The Hindu Kush

The journey from Gilgit along the Hindu Kush Range to Peshawar is a breathtaking adventure through some of Pakistan’s most spectacular landscapes. Starting in Gilgit, the capital of Gilgit-Baltistan, the road winds through rugged mountains, offering stunning views of snow-capped peaks, gushing rivers, and lush valleys. The drive over the Shandur Pass, often called the “Roof of the World,” is a highlight, as it traverses the highest polo ground in the world.

Descending into Chitral, the valley welcomes you with its serene ambiance and majestic views of Tirich Mir, the highest peak in the Hindu Kush range. Chitral town itself is a blend of history and culture, with its charming bazaars and the historic Chitral Fort.
A visit to the Kalash Valley is a truly unique experience on this journey. The Kalash people, renowned for their ancient traditions, vibrant festivals, and colorful attire, inhabit the picturesque villages of Bumburet, Rumbur, and Birir, which are nestled in stunning valleys. Continuing onward, the road from Chitral to Peshawar traverses the dramatic Lowari Pass, connecting the highlands to the plains.
Finally, Peshawar, the bustling capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, awaits with its rich history, vibrant bazaars, and cultural treasures. From the ancient streets of the Qissa Khwani Bazaar to the stories etched in its historic walls, Peshawar offers a tapestry of experiences.
